Fat Man Memorial Tee

Kerry "Fat Man" Hunter was one of the most beloved members of our Preservation Hall collective, a staple on the bass drum every Monday at Brass Night for many years. A lifelong New Orleanian who lived and breathed the culture, he was a pillar in the community and used his musical talents to influence everyone around him.

As the drummer for the New Orleans Nightcrawlers, he won a Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2021 and was nominated in the same category again in 2024. Throughout his prolific career, he also performed with a variety of brass bands, including the Roots of Jazz Brass Band (led by Danny Barker), Junior Olympia, Rebirth, Kinfolk, Tornado, Dirty Dozen, and Olympia. He was truly a mentor and friend to all, taken from us far too soon.

Lensed by Scott McDermott, the images on this special edition shirt perfectly capture Fat Man's joyous spirit that will forever live in our hearts.

All profits from the sale of this shirt will be donated to Kerry Hunter's family.
